Imagine yourself, escaping the blazing sun, reclining in a cool, darkened room, eyes closed, your skin awaiting an hour or more of cleansing relaxation. Yes, you should book a facial, or two or three, this summer. Your skin needs protection and renewal year-round, not only in colder months or for special occasions.

Sometimes we don’t think of summer as the optimal time for facials. We’re busy trying to relax, swim and find some time in the sun. That said, we still need a break from the unrelenting desert heat of our Nevada summers. As Lapis & Oak serves the greater Las Vegas area, we’re used to dealing with the dual challenges of intense temperatures and zero humidity. After all, nothing looks good without water…and that includes our faces. Moisturizing facials, followed by a customized home care regimen, can solve this problem.

Are you sunkissed or perhaps even sunburned? Spending a lot of time in chlorinated swimming pools? Going outside, shopping, working or just living? That covers pretty much everyone we know. Take it from us: glowing skin doesn’t have to come from a summer tan. Why not achieve the same visual result, through skin replenishment at a facial spa instead of through long-term skin damage?

Exfoliate, moisturize, protect.

Here’s the thing. Summer facials aren’t just a fun thing to do – though we work hard to make sure you delight in your spa experience – they’re also vitally important for long-term self-care. Weather damage – from too much sun and arid desert heat – to your skin is real and can have lasting effects.

On top of this, everyone can benefit from cleaning out their pores, exfoliating and balancing their skin, and adopting a customized home facial care regimen. While each individual’s frequency of facial treatments will be different, depending on age, health and overall skin condition, “rarely” or “never” are words we recommend removing from your self-care vocabulary. Your face and your self-confidence will thank you.

Which Facial Should I Choose?

Our professional, highly experienced estheticians offer several types of facials so that each person’s unique needs can be met. In fact, thoughtfully combining our expertise with your personal experience is our approach to every treatment we provide at our spa.

Any of our Lapis & Oak facials will work with the right preparation and skincare afterwards, but in the summer, we frequently recommend our Hydro facial, particularly if your skin is dry. After all, “hydro” (water) is right in the name! Our multi-step hydro facial treatment includes hydro dermabrasion, a chemical peel, automated (and painless!) extractions and antioxidant and hyaluronic acid peptide infusions, all in around an hour and without any lingering skin irritation. You can even add vitamin/nutrient/botanical infused oxygen therapy to give extra attention to fine lines and wrinkles.

If you want something a bit different, our immune boosting facial includes our own in-house strawberry rhubarb dermafoliant. Bursting with essential fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins, this facial promotes collagen production while exfoliating and hydrating your skin. We follow it with LED light therapy too!

When firming and tightening skin are your primary goals, we often suggest a Jan Marini C-ESTA facial with lipid-soluble vitamin C and DMAE. If your current skin issues include hyperpigmentation, congestion or acne, we will recommend a customized facial and consult with you on home care. As for microdermabrasion facials, yes, we still recommend them in the warmer months, because thorough moisturization will offset any seasonal concerns.

In the midst of work, summer camps and vacation planning, don’t forget to take care of yourself too. Book a facial, sit down and talk to us, and we’ll design a customized treatment to address your unique skincare needs. Your smiling face will leave the spa glowing, pumped up and moisturized. We look forward to seeing you at the spa!
